Lovely comment

On my main blog, I had a wonderful comment from AJ,

"hi, i saw your site in one of the links when I searched for manila blogs. I love your pictures, I really miss Philippines. I'm in Arizona right now.. anyway keep up your site. love it! salamat!"

Blogging is very useful because of the occasional reminders that there is a worldwide audience for everything on the internet. Because I work full-time on the internet, I haven't done much mobile blogging except for sending occasional pictures direct from my mobile phone to a website, but I'm aware that moblogging (mobile blogging) is increasingly popular.

Ali, an Ultralab colleague, is taking a holiday in Cebu later this year to visit family. It sounds marvellous - I hope to return to the Philippines one day.

Put this in your jeepney

Last week the Ultracab travelled to Newcastle - its a great idea to put computer equipment into a vehicle so that it can be toured. The taxi has been fitted out with everything needed for contributing to the Every Object web site. A jeepney with the latest technology would look spectacular in the Philippines - though security might present a problem with those open doors and windows.

Videos via mobiles

A school is looking at the possibilities of sharing videos via mobile phones and how this can impact on children’s learning within and beyond the classroom.

The WAP site for mobiles is http://mlearning.rave.ac.uk/frankwise/index.wml

12 Photos

I'm back at my desk after the long journey from Palawan to Flint via Manila, Hong Kong, London Heathrow and Manchester. Its a holiday weekend, plenty of time to organise some of my photos and videos from last week. The first set of photos is from the group who used my camera at the 12 Photos workshop; the theme was Caught in the Act.

    Many Thanks

Thanks to all, I've just had time for a quick skim of the feedback (including emails and messages on my journal) and its very encouraging to find delegates have found some potentially useful ideas as well as having fun. Jansen and Digi have looked after me very well, even taking the trouble to help me spend a few more days here on my first visit to the Philippins - I'm going to Palawan tomorrow so I'll see the beaches as well as the city. When I get back home I'll add a picture from Palawan to this blog.

    Pop-up Problem

I noticed that the seminar sites were messy because pop-ups had not been blocked, so I'm revising Day 2 pages using FirstClass, it might help.

    Link to Day 2 version

I'd better add this to the Quick Links now.

    Learning with Mobile Phones

"Currently mobile phone users send and receive text messages, they talk to their friends and play simple computer games. In the future, location-aware mobile multimedia devices may replace some of their simple phones. Others may still continue to use just a regular mobile phone with text messaging. In both cases, the m-learning project is investigating how the technologies in the hands of these young people, now and in the near future, might be used to engage them in learning activities, start to change their attitudes to learning and thereby contribute to improving their skills, opportunities and lives"

Have a look at ideas on www.m-learning.org. Try the interactive demos on the right hand side (choose from the pc
